Gloss Moderne Review

I was so incredibly lucky to receive astounding hair products from A luxurious hair care line called : Gloss Moderne.

Let me tell you a bit about the company and why I LOVE their products so much :

Gloss Moderne is a Luxury Hair Care Line. It is sulfate-free, sodium-chloride free, and paraben-free. It is all of that without compromising on quality ! I am a all about finding products that are healthy to be applying to my skin and hair. But, sometimes when companies take an ingredient out of a product. The product itself is somehow affected. That is not the case with Gloss Moderne at all ! It is pure greatness in hair-care form. It also protects color from fading !

I was so happy that the shampoo actually gave me a nice foamy, rich lather. Some paraben-free shampoos lack lather, which with my thick hair, I can not have happen. The shampoo went the extra mile. It made my hair feel squeaky clean. I couldn't say a bad thing about anything from this line !

The conditioner really felt like it quenched the thirst of my parched hair. I have highlights in my hair, which means my hair can get super dry. I let the conditioner sit in my hair and when I blow dried my hair after using the shampoo and conditioner in conjunction, my hair looked fabulous !

The Hair Masque was amazing. Far beyond my expectations ! Usually hair masks can weigh my hair down a lot. The Gloss Moderne Hair Masque was a different consistency than I expected, but in a good way. The consistency was almost sticky, when you apply it to your hair you can actually feel it sinking into your hair. I waited a while before I washed my hair masque out because I really wanted to reap the benefits of it. So, it was Gloss Moderne Shampoo then I applied the Gloss Moderne Hair Masque and left it on for about 15 minutes. When I rinsed it out, I could feel the difference in my hair. It felt softer and more sleek. I used a microfiber towel to dry it as much as possible and then I blow dried it and I was thrilled with the results. See pic below for what my hair looked like after !

Hair Masques

I love the way it conditioned the parts of my hair that are bleached !

My hair definitely doesn't look this good everyday. It was with the exceptional hair products that I received these great results  !

I really stand behind the brand for their commitment to keep their products as natural as possible. You may not realize that the chemicals we put on our body via our skin, scalp etc. is absorbed by our bodies. If you put harsh chemicals on your body, it is absorbing them into your blood stream. I try my best to use products that are natural. And, with Gloss Moderne , you get a natural product with amazing quality! They truly impressed me with their products !

Not to mention the smell of the shampoo and conditioner smell AMAZING ! So good that my husband couldn't stop smelling my hair and then he got out of the shower one day and I smelled the shampoo on him. He loved the way it smelled so much that he had to use it too !

Splurge Vs. Steal

In the world of fashion, many designers are either inspired by other's work, or they simply are copying someone else's work. It is the nature of the beast. Just like if I see a girl with a great outfit on, I will try to recreate it on my own. Using pieces from my closet and making it my own unique style, but with that said, the idea originated from someones else's outfit.

I am not saying this is a bad thing. There is inspiration, in so many things, that surround us.

It also comes in handy when one designer will tweak another designer's piece and make it their own.

In this case I am bringing you: SPLURGE vs. STEAL vs. MAJOR STEAL :

I am not saying these shoes are identical. But they are based off of the same idea, which I don't mind ;)

Exhibit A : Splurge

Isabel Marant Tacy Pony Booties

Exhibit B - Steal

Sam Edelman - Kendrix

Exhibit C- Major Steal

Sam & Libby Kaye Buckle Boots

Now, as I said, these are not identical by any means. But, they are similar in concept and can give you a great look for a fraction of the cost. Or, of course, I wouldn't judge if you splurged !

Which one is your favorite?

Comment below and let me know !

Masqueology - Worth The Splurge

In a world filled with high-cost beauty products. I can say I have test my fair share of high end products. Some are worth it while others, simply aren't. One beauty products splurge that is so worth the splurge is Masqueology.

It is not alarmingly pricy, but it is not on the low end of the spectrum. At $24.00 for three masks. I would not lead you in the wrong direction. I went to Sephora, looking for a new mask. I found masqueology. I purchased the Pore Minimizing mask. What sets masqueology apart from regular face masks is that all of the ingredients are on a saturated cloth with cut-outs for your nose, eyes and mouth.

I laid down for the last two nights after a long day with one on for 30 mins and I looked at my skin and my face really was radiant. My pores looked minimized and it actually made me look like I SLEPT. So, these masks are basically magic !

Next on my list I would like to try the anti-blemish one. My skin is acne prone even though I am in my late twenties. So, I am working on minimizing aging and acne at the same time !

I HIGHLY recommend masqueology !!

My 10 Favorite Drugstore Beauty Finds Of The Moment

I love nothing more than going into CVS or Target and gazing at everything in the beauty/cosmetic aisles. I could do it everyday and still be perfectly content with doing, just that. I think that it is great that you don't have to always get everything from Sephora or Mac cosmetics. Which, believe me, I love both retailers ! But, it is fun to walk out of the drugstore with 5 new products and not feel like you have done a bad thing to your wallet. Don't get me wrong, these things add up ! But, I do recommend getting  the "store" cards that CVS, Rite-Aid and Walgreens have to offer. It takes a minute to fill out the paperwork and it usually results in great coupons ! I love going into CVS and getting my 5 dollar off coupon and then my foundation will go from being $12 to $7 !!! I use a good mix of drugstore products as well as products from sephora and Mac products. I also, love Ulta because it brings both high-end and drugstore products to you, all in one store !

ANYWAY on to the good stuff :

My 10 Favorite Drugstore Beauty Finds Of The Moment ;

Let us start with hair products :

Loreal Elnett Hairspray :
This hairspray is amazing. It is used by virtually ever celebrity hair stylist and I can attest to how amazing it is. It provides strong hold, without ever giving you that crunchy feeling. I buy the Extra strong hold for color-treated hair. It has a UV filter which I think is imperative. People usually forget that our hair needs SPF too. I give this a ten out of ten !

Organix Anti-Breakage Keratin Oil :
This is what I use on the parts of my hair that are bleached. It gives your hair a lot of moisture and it doesn't make my hair greasy, which is extremely important to me. Aside from how awesome this product is, it smells AMAZING !

PSSSST! Instant Dry Shampoo :
This is great for refreshing your hair in between washes. It smells clean and not too strong. It is also something I use when I am going to curl my hair to give it a bit of texture and volume. You can spritz some of this in your hair and tease it and get some BIG hair without much effort. If you have super clean hair and you want to curl it this can "dirty" up your hair and give it more texture resulting in hair that is much easier to curl. I do use it in between washes to keep my hair smelling great. Just don't overdue it with this product as it can leave traces of white residue in your hair. So, a little bit of this goes a very long way.

E.L.F. Eyelid Primer :
This isn't just my favorite drugstore eyelid primer, it is my favorite eyelid primer in general. And may I add, this is cost effective being as though it is one dollar ! There are not many things that I can say I LOVE that are a dollar. But, my eyeshadow doesn't budge when I wear this. I LOVE it !

Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara :
I can never say enough about Maybelline The Falsies Mascara. And now, they have the Big Eyes addition which gives you a small wand for your lower lashes. This is hands down my favorite mascara. You can not go wrong with this mascara. I used to always buy my mascara at sephora until I realized, the ingredients in most mascaras are basically the same thing. Also, I have all of my expensive mascara wands saved. So, if I want I can use the wand from some of the other mascaras I have had in the past. Sometimes using a different wand on your mascara helps. I like a mascara wand with a bit of a curve to lift the eyelash. This is my favorite mascara that I have found. A close contender was Loreal Lash stylist, but it is so hard to find and can only be found on the internet. This is my holy grail mascara. I use 3 coats. I love dramatic lashes ! I plan to have a youtube tutorial up on how I apply my mascara because I always get people asking me how I get my lashes to look so long and full.

I have an old blog post on what I use to maintain my eyelashes here :

Loreal True Match Concealer :

This is what I use under my eyes and to contour my face. This is great because some concealers, when used under your eye tend to crease or fall into the fine lines under your eyes. This has never creased on me. It always holds up well and doesn't sink right into the fine lines (everyone has them, and when you apply makeup it can accentuate those fine lines, and no one wants that ! )

Sonia Kashuk Primer Base Perfecting Brightening Primer

This can only be found at target. I love Sonia Kashuk products ! They are reasonably priced and are good quality. This definitely brightens up your complexion and is great as a base. I have only used this a few times, but I think it will be going into my Holy grail products. It kept my foundation in great shape and made my skin look much brighter.

Cotton Candy Delicious Fragrance by Prince Matchabelli :

I don't use this as perfume. I spray it on my clothes to give it a nice sweet smell. I love the smell of this, but I can't imagine using it as a perfume. But, I spray a mist of this on my clothes and my husband loves the smell. My perfume that I use a lot with this is Pink Sugar by aquolina and also Blue Sugar by aquloina , which is technically for men, but I always use it because it smells amazing. So, cotton candy is just a light sweet smell. I spray it in my house sometimes to just lift my mood. It does actually last a long time and it's around 5 bucks ! Great pick me up and I think all men will find this fragrance appealing on a woman. So, ladies, I recommend you buy this. ;)

Milani Lipliner in 02 True Red :

I use this as my signature red lip. I apply this liner to my entire lip and it gives you the perfect red lip. I just recently started doing this and I noticed this lasts a lot longer than a red lipstick. Don't be afraid to use a lip liner as a lipstick. I wore this color for my birthday that just flew by 3 days ago and I got a compliment from my hubby, the hostess at the restaurant we went to and a random passer by, later on that night. It is definitely a true perfect red. It did not dry my lips out and gave me that signature red lip that I have been looking for. Below is a picture of my birthday makeup and me wearing this incredible color.

Milani True Red Lipliner used to fill in my entire lips. Long lasting and perfect matte red lipstick / Liner.

CVS brand eye make-up remover (Oil Free)

Ponds Wet Cleansing towelettes

This is what I use to remove all of my makeup before washing my face. I prefer the CVS brand eye makeup remover to the neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover. Even though this is cheaper or even an imitation of neutrogena eye makeup remover, there is something about this eye makeup remover that I love. I have tried both and love the CVS brand.

On to the Makeup Wipes :

I love Ponds Wet Cleansing Towelettes. I used to always use either olay or neutrogena makeup wipes, but these are more soapy and I feel more gentle on the skin. Because, you have to apply less pressure on your face since the wipes are nice and moist. So, these two items are my holy grail makeup removing products !

I would love to know some of your favorite drugstore beauty products. Please comment below. I love trying new stuff and if I like something you recommend and I like it. I will give you a shout out in my blog post ! So, definitely let me know if there is something I must try !

Hope you guys liked this article and I hope you try some of these products.

Have a great day or night depending on where you are !!

DIY Homemade Skin And Hair Recipes

Some great DIY ideas to pamper yourself with products that you probably have in your pantry !

* I mix 2 Tablespoons of organic turmeric with 8 ounces of water and drink this daily. Turmeric has numerous health benefits. It purges toxins from your body. Thus, your skin being clearer and more vibrant !

* Cystic Acne relief : I personally suffer from cystic acne. There are very few things to do to keep cystic acne under control. But, what I do now, is, if I feel a cystic pimple coming on, I ice the area for as long as possible (to bring down any swelling, that may occur). Then I apply cortizone 10. The cortisone in Cortizone 10 works to shrink the pimple. I do this for 3 days and I only apply it to the one specific area that needs to be treated.

* Another acne relief trick is to crush up an aspirin or ibuprofen and use a tiny drop of water until it forms a paste and apply to the pimple that needs to be treated. This will bring the inflammation of the pimple down.

* A great scrub to moisturize your skin is by mixing 1 tablespoon of Coconut Oil with 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda. Apply to your face and exfoliate in a circular motion. Let scrub sit on your face for about 5 minutes and wash it away with lukewarm water. Apply toner and moisturizer for optimal results.

* A great mask for to keep your hair hydrated is to mix 1 cup of full fat mayonnaise with 1/2 of an avocado. Beat and mix the ingredients until it has a paste like consistency. Apply to your hair from root to tip and cover your head with plastic wrap. Wrap a hot towel around your hair to seal in the moisture. Leave on for an hour ( you can even go longer if you have time). Shampoo and condition like usual, after.

* Rub a lemon on your acne scars and they will fade away. Don't expect overnight results but it is the most natural way to rid yourself of traumatizing acne scars.

* Slice a tomato in half and apply it directly to your face. Rub the tomato in a circular motion across your entire face, let the juice remain on your face and wash your face after it has dried completely. Tomatoes are rich in Vitamin A, C and K. Tomato applied to the face daily will minimize the look of pores, heal acne, brighten you complexion and cleanse the skin. Keeping break-outs at bay.

Mix 6 tablespoons of finely ground coffee with 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Massage into the skin for about 5-7 mins. Coffee boosts collagen and helps rid your body of unwanted cellulite. While, olive oil is moisturizing and rejuvenating.

Mix honey and sugar and scrub you lips with the particles of sugar. Use a soft toothbrush to remove dead skin off of your lips for kissably smooth lips !
