Should You Be Filtering Your Shower Water?

I have longed for a very long time to have total home reverse osmosis done to my house. However, I don't know exactly where I want to settle down and live yet. So, it is not realistic to do it in the house I live in now, as the price is rather costly.

I have been looking into shower filters ever since I gave my daughter her first bath. I think its important to filter out some of the toxins that are in our water. Plus, the chlorine that is pumped into our water is very drying. While it is obviously a blessing to have clean water, it is necessary to take out some of the yuckies, still.

After looking into several that were priced between $40-$300. I landed on the SmartShowerFilter. It actually happened to be the cheapest one and so far, I actually LOVE it.

These are some of the stats that the Smart Shower Filter boasts:

Water purifying shower head for skin care and hair. Now with a high pressure 30% water saving natural ionic filter and 3 settings - SmartShowerFilter

  • OIL-FREE SKIN - Bioactive stones help restore balance in oil glands

ULTRA PURIFIED WATER - Enjoy a CHLORINE FREE shower which prevents premature ageing. Especially good for soothing eczema

SAVE WATER but still maintain high pressure using Innovative laser perforated technology. Flow rate of 1.74 - 1.82Gpm at 0.25Mpa
DURABLE shower head is long lasting and great for the whole family. Suitable for children and pets.

WATER SAVING FEATURE, Micro Nozzle mechanism saves water by as much as 30%. Strong Stainless Steel Head Panel. Shower head has tiny water holes and special structure to reach water-saving effect. Laser Perforated Technology Feature with a Flow Rate of 6.7-6.8L/minute at 0.25Mpa

EASY INSTALLATION. Connect to any standard hose in seconds ( Hose not Included )

One thing to note, is that the hose is indeed not included so, if you have just a standard shower head on the wall you are going to need to purchase a hose. That wasn't an issue for me. But, just a caution in case you do not have one.

I will say, my skin and hair have changed a lot since using this and I am really happy I purchased it. Although, my long term goal is going to be to have full house reverse osmosis done. I am extremely satisfied with this for now!

You can get it HERE

It is literally under $17 and makes a huge difference! Try it, you will not be let down!!

Essential Oil For Beginners

I have really fallen in love with essential oils!!

 (No, I don't sell them,lol)

I have been using awesome essential oils in my room and my daughters room. They have actually helped me relax. I shut my bedroom door, so the only time I smell the relaxing smell is when I enter my bedroom. Same for my daughter.

It does sort of turn a switch on in your head that makes you associate that smell with sleeping. I really see an improvement in my own ability to relax. Which, if you know me, is nearly impossible!!! So, this speaks volumes!

I never really knew much about them. I have read a few books and talked to a few friends that swear by them. I was definitely highly skeptical at first. But, my husband loves them too and he initially thought the idea was unrealistic. He is FAR MORE of a skeptic than I. So, there's that.

The essential oil I have chosen to use is by a brand called "Kid Safe" you can find it on amazon. I love the scent "Calming the Child"  DIRECT LINK HERE

I never really understood essential oils, past the point of diffusing them. But one of my favorite things to help me after a long day of chasing after an extremely active toddler is to use peppermint essential oil and a carrier oil.

Carrier oils are necessary since it helps you use less of the essential oil. And, essential oil should not be directly applied to the skin without something to dilute it.

So, of course I found an organic carrier oil set on amazon, my go-to place for everything. The one I selected contains: Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Tamanu Oil and Argan Oil.

This set could not be more perfect! And if you didn't know tamanu oil is AMAZING to help with the appearance of stretch marks. I am lucky I didn't get a ton of stretch marks during pregnancy.

My 118 pound frame was 185 pounds before I delivered my daughter. So, think of all of that STRETCH. Of course, I have a few, but they just make me realize I was blessed to carry my daughter in my belly!

But, there are days where I just want them to look less obvious and this oil has help fade them. I have been putting it on every night and so far, so good! I will update you via twitter on the super long term use of it.

The carrier oil can be found HERE

It is by Gio's Naturals. I LOVE IT!

Look for Less

I think women can all agree on one thing -- we all love to look and feel great. And, when you can look great and not break the bank, well, that is just the icing on the cake!

I always, always shop on amazon! I get almost everything from diapers for my daughter, to razors for my husband and skin care, makeup and jewelry for myself (and everything in between)

I love when I find a great casual piece that looks expensive. This crystal bracelet is something I can wear out and it looks nice. My daughter has the habit of pulling on my jewelry and anyone else who may hold her, she pulls their jewelry too, lol.

This bracelet is nice to make a casual outfit have that extra something:

I have a diamond bracelet that looks almost exactly like this, so it is nice to have the option to wear this instead!

The quality is really great and you can get it HERE

Electric Hair Brush Review

This is certainly not your mama's hairbrush! I have 2 electric hairbrushes and I have to say I am in love with both. This review is for the Seen One electric hair brush straightener.

It is a 3 in 1 electric hair brush. It helps detangle your hair. It heats up to help straighten your hair without having to break out the hair straightener. And, it has an anion massager which makes your hair really sleek.

Now, I do have to say, I do not think this would help people with really curly hair. I have straight hair that is always puffy and frizzy and has to be smoothed out to look polished and not like I just rolled out of bed.

This is great for me because I have very little time to style my hair. But, I do love having sleek straight hair. Since, it is only on occasion that I curl it.

I just run this brush through my hair as I would any other brush and the heat and ions cause my hair to look smooth and almost exactly as if I used a straightener to achieve the results it gives me. I will update the blog with a picture of my hair, when I have time to put makeup on. But, being as though this has been an extremely busy week, I have been makeup free for most of it. But, my hair has been on point.

To me, this is the ultimate mommy tool. Or, perfect for anyone with straight to wavy hair. I am not sure if it would work on curly hair. But, I could be wrong. But, I got it on amazon and they have an amazing return policy, so if you do want to try it and you're a curly girly, I suggest getting it from amazon.

I got mine HERE

This will save you a ton of time!!! Thank me later!

Natural Hair Heat Protectant - Organic & Cruelty Free

Flat ironing can damage your hair. They can heat up to 400 degrees which is enough to fry and damage healthy hair. Curling irons and even constant blow drying can damage hair. Add in bleaching or coloring your hair and it will of course become dry and brittle.

I was in search of a natural, organic heat protectant. After reading about all of the silicone in conventional heat protectant.

I came across ISA Professional EVAO Extra Virgin Organic Argan Oil. I have been using it for about 2 months now and I absolutely love it. It will be a staple in my hair routine.

Argan Oil is natures heat protectant!

I have really straight hair. However, after years of coloring and bleaching and using the hot iron and hot tools on my hair. And, also after pregnancy. I noticed a huge change in my hair. It was breaking at the top and my ends were so split and damaged. I apply this to dry hair sometimes as a pre-treatment. But, my favorite way to use it is on damp hair, I then let my hair air dry, since I have been trying not to blow dry it.

Then after all of that, I iron it quickly. Just to decrease the frizz and puffiness. And iron out any waves in my hair. It has really improved the health of my hair. It protects from heat damage without the use of those thermal sprays which are full of unnecessary chemicals. If you are looking to ditch the chemicals from your daily routine, this is a great product to start with. Your hair and body will thank you.

Also, this isn't just limited to your hair. When my elbows or knees are dry I throw some of this on and they are instantly smooth. Not forever, but definitely a quick

It is USDA Organic, EcoCert, and cruelty free.

Here is a link to purchase it  ORGANIC ARGAN OIL

Let me know if you try it out!

Vegetarian Friendly Baked Eggs In a Muffin Tin Recipe

In an effort to eat a healthy breakfast in the mornings. I have done breakfast prep. With my daughter being extremely active in the mornings it was nearly impossible to make a good decision on what to eat for breakfast. Most of the time I was reaching for the nearest thing, which usually ended up being cookies or a muffin. No nutrition and tons of calories. NO BUENO!

Solution: Eggs in a muffin tin!

Here is what I used and I eyeball everything. I am Italian, this is how my mom cooks and her mom cooks and how my dad cooks and so on. So, if something looked like it needed a bit more, I added it. Here is a guideline, I don't love the term recipe lol

Butter to grease the pan (I love Kerrygold)

7 eggs scrambled with a dash of Himalayan Pink Salt & a dash of white or black pepper

Vegetables of your choosing (I used 1/2 zucchini and chopped up a quarter of an onion)

Splash of Rice Milk (you can use dairy milk, almond milk etc.)

Horizon Organic Mozzarella Cheese

Optional Meat substitute or BACON or HAM or whatever you like I used Lightlife Meatless Smart Bacon (2 Strips)

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees

- Grease muffin tin pan liberally with butter

- Grab measuring cup crack 7 Eggs into it

- Add a splash of rice milk

- Whisk eggs until they are well mixed and look "fluffy"

- Add ingredients directly to your measuring cup -  vegetables, meat substitute, cheese, salt, pepper

- Give it a good stir

- Pour directly from measuring cup into the muffin tins

- Place in oven and check after 15 mins. Continue checking every 5 minutes until the eggs puff up and you can see that they are cooked throughout. Mine took 20 minutes.

This was my first time making this so it does not look pretty. But I ate two with one half of an English muffin and I had a balanced breakfast. Once they cooled, I placed them in a ziplock and enjoyed the rest for the next few days, in the morning.

Let me know if you make this!

Spring Dreaming - White Makeup Brushes With Rose Gold Trim

The weather in New York where I am for a bit with my family has me dreaming of Spring. And, dreaming of sidewalks with no snow!

But, I am preparing for Spring and for my return back home to Florida. I found these GORGEOUS synthetic makeup brushes with beautiful Rose Gold trim. They are my first Spring like purchase.

I used them about 5 times for makeup application and there has been no shedding. Shedding is sometimes an issue with some synthetic makeup brushes. But, I really want to try to stay away from natural brushes. I own a few. But, from now on I am going with synthetic.

These have the right amount of glamour to make me feel great while putting on makeup? Does anyone else think like this? LOL

I LOVE the quality and have already washed them and there was barely any loss of bristles. They are no name and I have come to the conclusion that it really does not make any difference. The rose gold trim sold me on these and they have proved to be awesome!!
